). Meanwhile, Happy New Year! Santa Anita, , Maiden Special, 1 1/16 Miles This is a handicapper's nightmare or delight, depending on how you look at things. There are five BreezeFigs horses here, two Group 1 (Silver Light and Southernmostpoint), one Group 2 (Times Squared), a very decent Group 3 (Level Red), and a sneakily improving Group 4 (Forward Commitment). Silver Light is the morning line favorite and he should be based on his one race -- but that was in July. He earned the top BreezeFig of the day at EASMAY (six over Par), but he has a somewhat below-average 23-foot SL in that breeze. He could be vulnerable to Southernmostpoint, who ships in from Florida with three good races under his belt and may be able to better utilize the 24.5-foot SL he showed at OBSAPR in his nine-over-Par BreezeFig. Firster Times Squared was very pricey and had a 24.5-foot SL at KEEAPR, which is very good for a 1/8 mile work, and even though he's a New York Bred, he fits very welll in this group and might be a price. Level Red was scratched from the same KEEAPR sale after he also breezed 1/8 there -- slower than Times Squared, but with a 25.25-foot SL; he has shown doggedness in his efforts and needs to be watched. Forward Commitment needs to improve but might be a gimmick play. This race looks like it could produce good mutuels.
