BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, August 30th

horses that look very playable.

So sign up for DRF-Plus and get the card on the front page of www.drf.com.

Remember, there’s a new look to our sheets for the sales of 2008—we have added SURFACE as a new category to tell you whether the horse breezed on a dirt (D) or synthetic (S) track. There are four (S) sales this year—OBSFEB, OBSMAR, OBSAPR and KEEAPR; and three D sales—FTFFEB, BARMAR and EASMAY. Just to add some more insight to your handicapping.

Also, our rules still hold about BreezeFigs “qualified” runners: You can get a good idea of what “qualified” BreezeFigs horses are by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide on those sheets as well.

Also, refer to a study we did which shows that using BreezeFigs for 3-year-old maiden races in just as viable as using them for 2-year-old maiden races. .

If you'd like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website, .

There are 20 maiden races at 13 tracks Saturday with BreezeFigs opportunities. Here’s a look at just two of them. Good luck!

Saratoga, Park, , Maiden Special Weight, 6½ Furlongs (Dirt)

This race has a Nick Zito entry with two horses that were RNA’s at the FTFFEB sale for fairly outrageous prices. Together, or alone, they are likely to be odds-on. One, Ruler’s Vision, a $1,150,000 RNA, is worth the bet on BreezeFigs, even though the other, Just a Coincidence, a $500,000 RNA, had a good debut despite a middling BreezeFigs profile. Another firster, Sailor’s Song, an OBSAPR scratch, looks overmatched. Ruler’s Vision’s five-over-Par Group 1 profile was impressive and he’s a half to last year’s 2-y-o champ War Pass. Very nice horse. Watch.

Del Mar, , Maiden Special Weight, 5½ Furlongs (Synthetic)

A real tough one here with three firsters with very decent profiles at three different sales over the same synthetic track. Black Magic Mama was a 70k RNA at OBSFEB despite a solid Group 1, even-Par BreezeFigs profile with an almost average SL and managed to find a clever outfit to buy her after she didn’t sell in the ring. Pinkerbelle had a slightly better, two-over-Par Group 1 profile with a longer SL at OBSMAR on the same synthetic surface, but that was at a quarter mile, which may be more impressive. Sindyfromsantacruz had a very decent four-over-Par Group 2 showing at the less selective OBSAPR sale with a SL that was almost a foot over average for that sale. These three are virtually dead even on our parameters, watch the board for the straight play, use them all in gimmicks.
