BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, April 7th

Keeneland opens this weekend and lo and behold, the first 2-year-old races have been carded, including one Saturday with a "key" BreezeFigs horse for you to consider. On your BreezeFigs sheet, you will notice that 2YOs will be identified under the SALE column with an 07 following the sale name. The rest of the horses are 3YOs, and we will continue to provide BreezeFigs for that crop through June. Right now, plase take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Good luck!

Keeneland, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

The rail horse, American County, was the very first 2-year-old sold this year--she was HIP #1 at the OBSFEB sale in Ocala, and she lived up to her billing with the highest BreezeFig for fillies at 1/8 mile--a whopping 75. However, she was only a Group 2 filly because she was slowing down at the end of the breeze somewhat--though she did fly in 10.0 for the 1/8 mile. She had an about average stride length for fillies at that sale, and she looked good enough to be able to carry her speed this distance. Because she was aiming for the early sale, this one has been in training since September, and the others in this field may not have that much conditioning on them, so even though she might be short odds, she should be worth a bet.

Woodbine, , Maiden Special, 6 1/2 Furlongs

Assuming it's not snowing and Woodbine races, this looks like a good shot for a BreezeFigs exacta. True Resurgence is the one to bet here--he was a Group 1 at FTFFEB last year but was bought back (RNA) at 120k and then wheeled back at Maryland in the EASMAY sale where he was not only Group 1 again, but also with basically the same 24-foot-plus stride length. He was sold there for only 84k. He was sent out at Fair Grounds for his first race earlier this year and did well--this one looks good. You should be able to box him with Muskwa, who was sold at the FTFFEB sale but had a foot shorter stride length. Still, he had a decent three-over-Par BreezeFig at the same distance that True Resurgence was seven-over-Par, and he's making his season debut off three solid efforts as a 2-year-old. Nice gimmick here.
