BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, April 14th

Email

Six BreezeFigs qualified horses broke their maidens at Aqueduct (2), Keeneland (2), Bay Meadows and Oaklawn on April 11th and 12th, five of them Group 1 horses, and the average payoff was $9.50. Last week we gave you an 11-to-1 firster who was third after a bad start at Keeneland in the first baby race of the year, plus two thirds of the Tri in the 9th at Woodbine. There are a 19 races at 12 tracks Saturday on your free BreezeFigs card (with DRF-PLUS subscription), so let's get to work. (Remember, please take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Good luck!)

Aqueduct, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

Our "Uh, duh? Special of the Week"--Jersey Guy, a Pletcher firster, a $650k 2-Y-O at OBSMAR where he was a solid two-over-Par, Group 1 horse. Only thing that raises an eyebrow is that his stride-length (SL) was under average that day, but if he's quick, he'll be in the hunt, and should be a good gimmick horse.

Finger Lakes, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

Opening day, and if they're not buried in snow, the first race should be a laugher for Kitten's Tale. She was a nine-over-Par, Group 1 BreezeFig filly with a 26-ft.-plus SL at EASMAY--horses like this are supposed to be at better tracks, and go in longer races, but if it's a local owner, he should have his picture taken.

Hawthorne, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

We'll stick with Batteriesnotincluded as a key horse, like we did two weeks ago, until this one buries us--his KEEAPR BreezeFig and 25-ft SL showed in his strong closing effort in his debut. But he will have a tough time with Flightwithoutwings, a solid runner-up in his debut and good BreezeFigs horse in his own right at OBSAPR. The sneaky play here is going to be Trippit, a firster who had a better BreezeFig and longer SL than Flightwithoutwings at the same sale but was scratched from the sale (SCR) after he breezed, so it doesn't appear that he was in a 2-Y-O sale in the PP's. But it's on your BreezeFigs sheet. If he's sound, he will be the one to catch and would not surprise if he won the whole thing. This looks like a solid BreezeFigs 3-horse box.
