Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint: Mizdirection draws post 12 for repeat bid

Shigeki Kikkawa
Mizdirection will start from post 12 when she defends her title in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Defending champion Mizdirection drew favorably in post 12 when starting gates were assigned Monday for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, to be run Saturday at Santa Anita.

Mizdirection is one of two females facing male rivals in a full field of 14 entered in the Turf Sprint, which is run downhill at 6 1/2 furlongs. The other, Reneesgotzip, was assigned post 4 as she also returns to the Turf Sprint after finishing third last year behind Mizdirection and Unbridled’s Note, the latter of whom got post 14 for Saturday’s race.

Other post draws in one of the best wagering events of the entire weekend: Jeranimo, post 1; Chips All In, post 3; Caracortado, post 5; Boat Trip, post 6; and Capo Bastone, post 9.

The Turf Sprint actually had 18 pre-entries, but three of them opted instead for the BC Mile: Obviously, Silver Max, and Christoforo Colombo. A fourth alternate, Tour Guide, is entered in the Damascus Stakes on Saturday, leaving the 14-horse maximum.

Dimension was the rabbit when Wise Dan set track record for a mile at Woodbine 1:31.75. Love the outside post, where he can track Miz and take first crack at the finish line. He probably will be bet down over the local horses here, but odds should still be good. #13 WPS all systems go....$$$$$$$$$$$

Horse and Rider never been down the dip. That is a huge red flag!

Boat Trip will be dangerous here.
