Grace Hall is fit and ready to ship. She worked a half-mile Saturday at Delaware Park in 47.80 seconds, breezing, a work trainer Tony Dutrow deemed “as good as I could have dreamed.”
Winner of the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks last out and 6 for 10 overall, 3-year-old Grace Hall is scheduled to fly out of New York on Tuesday and run Friday at Santa Anita in the $2 million Ladies’ Classic. The expected field of eight includes early favorite Royal Delta, along with unbeaten fillies Awesome Feather and My Miss Aurelia.
The work by Grace Hall was the fastest of 27 half-mile works Saturday at Delaware. The only remaining decision for Dutrow is jockey. Her riding assignment is undetermined.

One other recorded work Saturday by a Ladies’ Classic contender was by Love and Pride, the bi-coastal Grade 1 winner who worked a half-mile at Santa Anita in 48 seconds, handily.
Other expected Ladies’ Classic starters are Include Me Out, Questing, and Class Included.
In way over her head.

LORD CHELSIE has been away since February but he has speed and the rail, and given the general lack of pace in this opener he should be able to take advantage of this pace advantage, as long as he breaks alertly and outruns OMINOUS THOMAS for the lead; past success over this strip adds to the appeal. OMINOUS THOMAS failed to make the lead in a shorter race that was loaded with speed last time; back at six furlongs today, and this is a much better race flow for him.
