Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf: My Conquestadory must overcome post 14

My Conquestadory's trainer, Mark Casse, was unfazed by his filly's challenging post position.

ARCADIA, Calif. - My Conquestadory, who overcame a difficult trip to win the Grade 1 Alcibiades in her last race, will now have to overcome post 14 if she is to win the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Friday at Santa Anita.

My Conquestadory drew the extreme outside post in a full field of 14 entered Monday for the Juvenile Fillies Turf, run at one mile.

Mark Casse, the trainer of My Conquestadory, just views it as another obstacle to overcome on what he hopes will be a championship season.

“We were wanting to prove she’s the best in North America,” Casse said from Florida where he watched the draw on television. “This is the first step.”

My Conquestadory is 2 for 2 with both wins coming in stakes, the first on turf at Woodbine against males. In the Alcibiades, at Keeneland, she got squeezed at the start then had to check in traffic down the backstretch before finding room and making a strong run to get the victory.

“It can’t get a whole lot worse than it was last time,” Casse said. “Nothing is ever easy in this business.”

My Conquestadory was not the only horse to get saddled with a poor post for this race.

Testa Rossi and Sky Painter, separated by a nose when first and second in the Miss Grillo at Belmont, drew posts 12 and 13, respectively.

Testa Rossi was one of four horses entered by trainer Chad Brown. Ready to Act drew post 11 while Kitten Kaboodle and Granny Mc’s Kitten, drew posts 4 and 5, respectively.

Clenor, undefeated in three starts since coming to North America, drew post 10 for trainer Doug O’Neill. Daily Racing Form’s Brad Free said Clenor would be his morning-line favorite.

European-based runners Al Thakhira, Vorda, Chriselliam, drew posts 2, 6 and 9, respectively.

Oof. toughest puzzle of the two day card in my opinion and now My Conquestadory draws the hell hole. You could spread 6 deep in this race and still miss. 15 to 1 on Clenor is tempting though. At least you know she likes the turf and run a135.00 mile

Clenor WILL NOT be 15-1. I actually think her 8-1 ML is low and expect her to vie for favoritism based on horse for the course angle and I will try to beat her for the win. Agree that this one is wide open, but trying to keep it to 3 in the Pick 3. Leaning towards Vorda, Testa Rossi and My Conquestadory.
