LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Flat Out is a slight favorite over Kelso Handicap winner Uncle Mo for Saturday's $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic following advance wagering. Both horses are listed at 7-2, but Flat Out is favored by approximately $3,400, Churchill Downs officials announced. Havre de Grace, the lone filly in the field, is the third choice at 9-2. With just $71,599 bet in the early win pool as of 8 p.m. Friday, however, the early betting represents just a sliver of the total that will be ultimately be wagered. Perhaps more representative of the eventual Breeders' Cup odds is reflected in the will-pays in the Ladies' Classic/Breeders' Cup Classic daily double. In that pool – in which $562,284 was wagered – Flat Out is a stronger favorite, with a $1 double linking Royal Delta and Flat Out having a will-pay return of $10.10. Based on Royal Delta's 2-1 winning odds in the Ladies' Classic, the $10.10 Double payoff could point to Flat Out going off more like 5-2 or less. Havre de Grace, the lone filly in the Classic, offers the second lowest double payoff at $16.60, with world traveler So You Think next at $25.80 and Uncle Mo at $26.30.
