Marketing Mix might make a final career start in December after Saturday's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

Marketing Mix, who starts in Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Santa Anita, will be retired at the end of this year, but a successful race Saturday could lead to another start in December.

Craig Bernick, president of Glen Hill Farm, said Thursday that the $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup at Betfair Hollywood Park over 1 1/2 miles on turf Dec. 14 or two turf races in Hong Kong on Dec. 8 – the $2.8 million Hong Kong Cup over 1 1/4 miles or the $1.9 million Hong Kong Vase over 1 1/2 miles – are being considered for Marketing Mix.

“If we win, we could run in Hong Kong,” Bernick said. “If we run well and don’t win, we’ll look at the Hollywood Turf Cup. That’s kind of the plan.”

Trained by Tom Proctor, Marketing Mix, 5, has won 10 of 20 starts and $1,955,893. She won the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes at Hollywood Park in May in her first start of 2013 and beat males in the Grade 3 Sunset Handicap there in July. In her most recent start, Marketing Mix was a game second to Tiz Flirtatious in the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive Stakes here Sept. 28, losing by a head.

If Marketing Mix wins then at least 4 horses would have to literally break down in the race; she may be the "queen" of Southern California...however she will be facing different animals of different caliber this week-end.... It's ok to write articles to fill out pages. In the off season. This is the Breeder's Cup. Get with it!
