Cambina is a multiple stakes winner against 3-year-old fillies this year, a season highlighted so far by a dead-heat win in the Grade 1 American Oaks at Hollywood Park in July.

Trainer Jeff Bonde thinks she can accomplish more, beginning in Saturday’s $250,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Santa Anita. If Cambina runs well against older fillies and mares in the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon, Bonde will target the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf over 1 3/8 miles on turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4.

“She has enough points to get in,” Bonde said of the BC Filly and Mare Turf. “We’d like to see a big performance to justify going in there.”

The Yellow Ribbon is expected to have a strong field, led by Beverly D. Stakes runner-up Dubawi Heights.

Those fillies must run well in the Yellow Ribbon to advance to a BC Filly and Mare Turf expected to include Stacelita, winner of the Beverly D. who will be favored in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Invitational at Belmont Park on Saturday.

At Longchamp Racecourse in Paris on Sunday, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will include the outstanding fillies Sarafina and Galikova racing against males. On the same program, the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera for fillies and mares may include Misty for Me, winner of the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland in June.
