Borrego to stand for $20,000


Dual Grade 1 winner Borrego, who enters stud this year at Wintergreen Stallion Station near Midway, Ky., will stand for $20,000 in 2007.

Borrego recently arrived at Wintergreen and is available for viewing beginning at 11 a.m. daily during the Keeneland September sale.

A 5-year-old son of El Prado, Borrego won the 2005 Pacific Classic, in which he beat Perfect Drift and Lava Man, and the Jockey Club Gold Cup, in which he beat Suave and Sun King. He also was runner-up in the Hollywood Gold Cup and three Grade 2 stakes in 2005, and he finished third in the 2005 Santa Anita Derby. He retired with a lifetime record of 20-5-6-2 and earnings of more than $2 million.

Borrego is out of the Strike the Gold mare Sweet as Honey.
