Calvin Borel, the winner of two Kentucky Derbys, has been named the recipient of the 2010 George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, Santa Anita announced over the weekend.

The award is voted on by jockeys throughout the nation, recognizing a rider's success and character, and is administered by Santa Anita. Borel will be the 61st jockey to be honored with the Woolf Award, which is named for one of the most popular riders of the 1940s.

Borel, who is currently riding at Oaklawn Park, will accept the award at Santa Anita on March 14. The preceding day, Borel is expected to ride 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra in her 2010 debut, the $200,000 New Orleans Ladies Stakes at Fair Grounds.

Aside from being the regular rider of Rachel Alexandra, Borel, 43, is well known for riding Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense (2007) and Mine That Bird (2009).

A Louisiana native, Borel has been a fixture at Midwest tracks throughout his career.
