Bonde stablemates 1-2 in Bay Meadows stakes

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Stablemates De Goddaughter ($5.60) and Aunt Sophie trailed the field early but unleashed strong rallies to finish one-two in Sunday's $60,350 Autumn Leaves Handicap at Bay Meadows.

The two 4-year-old fillies trained by Jeff Bonde were last and next-to-last as they ran head-and-head through the first six furlongs on the one-mile race. Aunt Sophie, who was last early, moved a head in front of her stablemate at the quarter pole. But De Goddaughter unleashed a strong finish despite being in tight quarters at the top of the stretch to win the race by a head in 1:35.80.

Winning her third stakes of the year, De Goddaughter earned $33,350 to lift her career earnings to $239,638 with seven wins in 24 starts.
