Grade 2 winner and California-bred millionaire Bold Chieftain was represented by his first foal on Feb. 1, a colt born at Sue Greene’s Woodbridge Farm in Oakdale, Calif. The bay colt is out of the winning Cat Dream mare Mistical Dream, a half-sister to Grade 2-placed winner Mysterious Cat and to Mistical Bel, the dam of Grade 1 winner Mistical Plan.
A 10-year-old son of Chief Seattle, Bold Chieftain stands at Ellen Lee Jackson’s Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, Calif., for a fee of $3,000.
“[The foal] looks like Dad,” Jackson said. “He’s a bay like [Bold Chieftain] was, and his dam’s a chestnut.”
In seven seasons of racing, Bold Chieftain posted 18 wins, 14 seconds, and four thirds in 47 starts, including 14 stakes wins, while earning $1,683,181. His Grade 2 win came in the 2010 San Francisco Mile Stakes and he also won the Sunshine Millions Classic at Santa Anita that year as well as the California Cup Classic in both 2007 and 2009. Out of the stakes-placed Seattle Dancer mare Hooked On Music, Bold Chieftain is a half-brother to Grade 3-placed winner Hooked on Niners and stakes-placed winner Capt. Fly Hook.
