Charlie Boden, who served as racing manager and stallion season sales director for Calumet Farm, has left the operation to re-establish his bloodstock consultancy, Charles H. Boden Thoroughbreds, Inc.

Boden worked at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Ky. for roughly a year, after a decade as head of sales at Darley America, also in Lexington. While at Darley, Boden oversaw the careers of stallions including Bernardini, Medaglia d’Oro, and Street Cry, and was key in bring stallions such as Street Sense and Hard Spun to the farm.

“Calumet Farm’s mission is to revive the legacy that it once enjoyed and they are well on their way,” Boden said. "I am forever a fan of the farm and will cheer for the team to return it to its former glory.

“I am certainly open to other options but in the immediate, I plan on returning to the world of bloodstock consulting where I enjoyed considerable success for almost 20 years prior to being hired by John Ferguson to join Darley in 2006,” he continued. “I’m hoping that, by aligning myself with ambitious clients like Darley and Calumet, I will have plenty to do.  I am something of a unique demographic – a 58-year-old father of two grade school kids.  That will keep me energized and a member of the work force in a business I absolutely love for some time to come.”
