Boden to leave position at Darley

Charlie Boden will leave his position at Darley as head of sales at the operation’s U.S. base, Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky., on July 1.

Boden has held the position since 2006, and was instrumental in managing the careers of notable stallions including Street Cry, Medaglia d’Oro, and Bernardini. Darley also led all North American farms by number of mares bred twice during his tenure.

“I've enjoyed nine thrilling years at Darley, working with some of the best brains in the business,” Boden said. “It's been extremely stimulating to work in a global organization inspired by Sheikh Mohammed's ambition; a fabulous experience, a great education, and many lasting friendships made. Best of all, it's been my enormous good fortune to have spent so much of the last decade in the company of Darley's clients, who include the very finest breeders of racehorses in the world.”

Boden said he had no immediate plans after his departure from Darley.

“Participating in the formation and emergence of Darley as a major stallion station in America has been a tremendous experience and one that arms me with unique skills,” Boden said. “The excitement of the horse business is why I wake up early every morning and I am looking forward to exploring the opportunities that might present themselves over the next few months.  As the breeding season winds down and the yearling sales season gears up it is a good time to make a change and I'm excited about the possibilities.”
