Bob's Lady wins Work The Crowd Handicap

ALBANY, Calif. - Bob's Lady ($5.60) got a dream trip sitting last behind a brisk early pace before rallying in the lane and pulling away to win the $100,000 Work The Crowd Handicap at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday.

Demo Memo raced to the front entering the first turn as favored Brite Sunny Day conceded the lead to her in the one-mile race for Cal-bred fillies and mares.

Demo Memo began to fade nearing the quarter pole as Power To Burn rushed up to take the lead, but Bob's Lady was in gear as she raced three wide around the second turn. She opened up into the stretch and widened her margin to 5 1/2 over Brite Sunny Day, covering the mile in 1:37.66 over the track labeled good.

"She's a closer. I was hoping a speed duel would develop up front," winning trainer John Sadler said. "She was saving ground, and we decided to wait and put in one run. She's better if you wait with her."

The lone stakes winner in the field of five, Bob's Lady earned $55,000 to increase her career earnings to $156,100 with her fourth win in 13 starts.
