Blue Sky Holiday clearly best in Oaks

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Blue Sky Holiday was a convincing winner over Infinite Wealth in the $140,480 Grade 3 British Columbia Oaks at Hastings Saturday.

With Chad Hoverson aboard, Blue Sky Holiday was never far off of an honest pace of 22.85 seconds, 47.67 and 1:13.27 set by Infinite Wealth and Answerwithvictory. Blue Sky Holiday saved ground until she moved off of the rail to make her bid going around the stretch turn. She took command of the race at the top of the stretch and then drew off to win by 1 3/4 lengths.

"I had a perfect trip," said Hoverson. "I had a lot of horse the whole way and I just had to make up my mind about what hole to take her through."

Trained by John Snow, Blue Sky Holiday was sent off as the second choice in the wagering behind Lecturing Lynn, who had a wide trip and finished third.

Final time for the 1 1/8 miles over a track rated wet-fast was 1:52.32. Blue Sky Holiday paid $7 to win.

In the supporting feature, Against the Sky paid $9.20 for her upset win over heavily favored Holy Nova in the $53,471 Delta Colleen Handicap for fillies and mares.
