Blazing Bling blows by field in inaugural Diana

Email

Blazing Bling came from off the early pace to blow by the field and win the first running of the $50,000 Diana at ThistleDown on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Tim Hamm and ridden by Luis Colon, Blazing Bling was fifth early in the six-furlong race for older Ohio-bred fillies and mares. Colon asked the 4-year-old filly for her best, and she responded on the turn to draw clear by 1 1/2 lengths.

Blazing Bling was kept to task in the stretch, and the final margin of victory also was 1 1/2 lengths. Pyrite Blues was second, a length in front of the favorite Sky Crew in third.

The running time for the six furlongs over a fast track was 1:12.04, and Blazing Bling returned $19.20 to win.
