Black sending out talented pair in feature

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer Ian Black will take two shots at Thursday's Woodbine feature when he runs Rahy's Attorney and Knightly Attire in the 1 1/16-mile allowance for Ontario-sired runners.

Rahy's Attorney has improved with each subsequent appearance at the meeting. He graduated third time out this year in 1 1/16-mile maiden special, and then wound up second in an Ontario-sired allowance.

Black put Rahy's Attorney on Lasix for the colt's turf debut in a one-mile allowance at Thursday's nonwinners-of-three condition Julyo13. Sent off at 8-1, he closed strongly from midpack to win going away, and was rewarded a very respectable Beyer Speed Figure of 88.

Robert Landry retains the mount on Rahy's Attorney, who worked a half-mile in 48.60 seconds on the Polytrack last Friday.

Knightly Attire won his maiden going three-quarters of a mile on the Polytrack in his third start of the year. He was blocked behind rivals for most of the stretch run while experimenting on the grass July 1, and finished a frustrating sixth.

Most recently, Knightly Attire went back to the Polytrack against nonwinners-of-two Ontario-sired stock, and scored by daylight after a three-wide stalking journey.

Other contenders include Michael's Bad Boy, My Imperial Dancer, Yummy With Butter, and Rye on the Rocks.

Michael's Bad Boy has run four solid races for trainer John LeBlanc Jr. He graduated second time out at seven furlongs, with a Beyer Figure of 81, in his first grass attempt June 9.

Michael's Bad Boy overcame traffic problems in the stretch when he won a 6 1/2-furlong Ontario-sired allowance July 1. He was a stalking third last time out, in a two-turn route on the Poly.

My Imperial Dancer was beaten by only 5 1/4 lengths when he finished seventh in the Grade 3 Highlander Stakes in June. He subsequently finished a fading third in Rahy's Attorney's July 13 triumph, and is coming off another fade job, this one in a $62,500 optional claimer.

Yummy With Butter won his first two starts in the lower claiming ranks, and was a belated third in a $62,500 claimer last Sunday. His dam notched her grass debut, but there's little turf breeding on the sire's side.

Rye on the Rocks is winless since his victory at Thursday's level last September, which came a start before his runner-up placing in the restricted Bunty Lawless Stakes.
