Biglie Smallworld one to catch in Prairie Express

Biglie Smallworld, a two-time stakes winner locally the past two seasons, heads a five-horse field for the six-furlong Prairie Express, one of two $50,000 sprint stakes on a 10-race card at Prairie Meadows.

The 4-year-old Biglie Smallworld appears to have enough zip to dictate the pace. Trainer Chris Richard has given the mount to Tim Doocy, who will ride Biglie Smallworld for the first time.

The main opposition appears to be the late-running Kingsfield, a two-time winner this year.

Sole of the City appears to be the clear speed among six fillies and mares in the day's other stakes, the six-furlong Prairie Rose. The 7-year-old Sole of the City will be shooting for her 12th career win and making her 40th lifetime start. Apprentice rider Inez Karlsson has the mount, but will not receive a weight concession.

The special Kentucky Derby Day card will begin at 4:15 p.m. Central.
