Beulah track report

Brent's Challanger returns from a 10-week layoff in Sunday's $40,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap for Ohio-breds at Beulah Park.

Brent's Challanger faded to finish ninth in the 1 1/4-mile Governor's Buckeye Cup at Thistledown on Sept. 6 and has been rested since by his owner-trainer, Lori Grace.

During the summer, Brent's Challanger had a three-race winning streak that culminated with a victory in the $45,000 Gendelman Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile race over the turf at River Downs. That win makes him the only member of the Ruff/Kirchberg field with a stakes victory in 2004.

Overall, Brent's Challanger is 8-6-2 from 26 starts and has $110,085 in earnings.

Joe Sanchez picks up the mount on Brent's Challanger, who figures to stalk the early pace in the 1 1/4-mile Ruff/Kirchberg. Brent's Challanger will carry 119 pounds Sunday, conceding from 2 to 9 pounds to his rivals.

Scout Me, who is winless in 2003-04, is the main threat Sunday. Despite his long losing streak, Scout Me has been facing tougher company and can generally be counted on to put in a late run. Ivan Gonzalez rides Scout Me for trainer Albert Palacios. Scout Me will carry 117 pounds.
