Beulah Park: Uptown Gal back with Ohio-breds in Queen City Oaks

Uptown Gal will face statebred company and her own age group in an attempt to win her third race of the season in the $75,000 Norm Barron Queen City Oaks at Beulah Park on Sunday. A field of seven 3-year-old Ohio fillies will contest the 1 1/8-mile Oaks.

Uptown Gal most recently finished second in a second-level allowance race going a mile at Presque Isle Downs on July 11. Trained by Jim Rankin, Uptown Gal won a March 23 maiden race at Turfway Park and a one-mile, entry-level allowance race on April 26 at Mountaineer Park.

Gabriel Lagunes will ride for the first time.

Significant Bling will try to return to her winning ways as well. Trained by Tim Hamm, Significant Bling was the Ohio champion 2-year-old filly last season while winning 3 of 4 races. She has won only once this season, taking the Royal North locally on April 6. Significant Bling is one of three Hamm entrants, who will race as separate betting interests.

Blazing Bling will be looking for her first win of the year for Hamm. She won 4 of 8 starts last season. Blazing Bling has had a bullet work at Thistledown each of the past two Sundays.

Niagra Moon, also trained by Hamm, enters the Oaks off a 10 1/2-length maiden win at Thistledown going a mile. Niagra Moon signaled her readiness for the Oaks with a bullet work last Sunday at Thistledown.
