GROVE CITY, Ohio - Uncle Virgil took the early lead, fell back to third, then came again to win the $50,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial at Beulah Park Saturday afternoon. Under jockey Alberto Pusac, Uncle Virgil grabbed the lead and the rail a quarter-mile into the 1 1/8-mile race for Ohio-accredited 3-year-olds and up. Pusac took the 4-year-old gelding back and angled him to the outside in the stretch, and they rallied to a two-length win. Key Low also dueled for the early lead and fell back, but came back to get the place, a head in front of favorite Raise the Reward in third. Trained by Tony Lowry, Uncle Virgil ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:54.45 and returned $19.20 to win.
