Beulah Park track report

GROVE CITY, Ohio - Saturday's $35,000 Rollin on Over Stakes at Beulah Park, which attracted 11 Ohio-bred 3-year-olds, is a wide-open race.

Mercer's Cool Cat is the only stakes winner in the six-furlong race and has the best qualifications to take the Rollin on Over, but Woodburner and Clever Jimmy C both have run recently, unlike Mercer's Cool Cat.

Mercer's Cool Cat has not raced since finishing a distant eighth against open stakes company in the Remington Park Mile Dec. 1. Prior to that start he was an easy 7 1/2-length winner of the Ohio Freshman run over a muddy surface here at 1 1/16 miles.

Mercer's Cool Cat shows only two workouts in preparation for his return to the races for owner-trainer Dennis Mammen and could be vulnerable Saturday.

Woodburner has started just three times. He won against maiden special weight company in his first start last July at Thistledown. He returned and finished fourth in the Loyalty Stakes, also at Thistledown. Following a seven-month layoff he returned to finish second at Gulfstream Park in a $35,000 claiming race.
