Beulah Park Stakes

GROVE CITY, Ohio - Mercer's Launch will be looking to collect her second career stakes victory when she heads a field of seven Ohio-bred

2-year-old fillies in the $40,000 Glacial Princess Stakes at Beulah Park.

Mercer's Launch is the only stakes winner in the field by virtue of her

1 3/4-length score in the Emerald Necklace at Thistledown in September. She has finished third in each of her three subsequent starts, including the $75,000 Best of Ohio Juvenile Fillies at Saturday's 1 1/16-mile distance here Oct. 8.

In her most recent start, her first with the addition of blinkers and Lasix, Mercer's Launch finished a close third, beaten 1 3/4 lengths, versus males in the 1 1/16-mile Ohio Freshman Stakes here Nov. 18. Overall, she sports a record of 2-0-4 from 7 starts for her owner-breeders, Scite Farm Supply Inc. Edgar Dinghy has a return call.

Ohio Ann may be the most likely filly with a chance to upset the favorite. She finished second behind Mercer's Mill in the Emerald Necklace and has been on the board in 5 of her 7 career starts for trainer Robert Connelly. If a speed duel develops she could be the one to take advantage under the meet's leading rider, Perry Ouzts.
