Needmore Flattery made it a perfect 2 for 2 lifetime when defeating a field of 2-year-old Ohio-breds in the $50,000 Hoover Stakes at Beulah Park on Sunday.

One of only two fillies in the seven-horse field, both trained by Tim Hamm, Needmore Flattery came from just off the pace to win by 3 1/2 lengths going away.

Jockey Irwin Rosendo had Needmore Flattery third early in the 5 1/2-furlong event. Rosendo got Needmore Flattery through an opening along the rail in midstretch, and she drew off for the win. The pacesetting Obsessionsoptimist held on for second, two lengths in front of Jac's Fact in third.
The winning time on a fast track was 1.06.57, and Needmore Flattery returned $6.40 to win.

Also on Sunday, Deniro's Saint dominated a field of Ohio-bred 3-year-old fillies in the $50,000 Cincinnatian Stakes.

Trained by Josh Faulkner, Deniro's Saint was kept close to the pace to the far turn by jockey Luis Gonzalez. Gonzalez angled the 1-9 favorite to the outside entering the far turn, and she ran off through the stretch to win by 18 1/4 lengths. Barnsvlle Shamrock was second, and Players Lil Girl was third.
