Beulah: Just Michel favored

Multiple stakes winner Just Michel is the likely favorite going six furlongs against seven other Ohio-bred fillies and mares in the $40,000 Scarlet and Gray Handicap at Beulah Park.

Just Michel, who does her best running from off the pace, has won 5 of her 8 starts this year, including three straight stakes.

In her most recent start, Just Michel returned from a 3 1/2-month layoff and missed by a nose to Noon Win in an allowance on Oct. 8 after being caught five wide on the turn. Overall, Just Michel has a career record of 12-6-2 from 27 starts, good for more than $257,000 in earnings. Scott Spieth will be in from Thistledown to ride Just Michel, the starting highweight at 123 pounds.

The Great Taylor is a gate-to-wire threat for trainer Miguel Feliciano and her regular rider, Ricardo Feliciano. She has won 2 of her last 3 in front-running style at Thistledown.

The 3-year-old filly Noon Win upset Just Michel in her most recent start, scoring a narrow victory in a six-furlong race at Beulah. Noon Win has won 6 of her 12 career starts, including three stakes. Ernest Oro has the mount.
