Beulah: Devil Time romps in marathon

GROVE CITY, Ohio - Devil Time ($3.20) rated well off a hot early pace, took command entering the far turn, and drew off for an easy 16-length score in the $100,000 Best of Ohio Endurance Championship at Beulah Park.

Jockey Bill Troilo guided Devil Time to his fourth straight stakes score. A 6-year-old gelding trained by David Carroll, Devil Time covered the 1 1/4 miles in 2:03.18.

In the other Best of Ohio stakes on the card:

* Jessica ($20.40) took advantage of a ground-saving trip under jockey Russ Woolsey to score a two-length victory in the 1 1/16-mile Juvenile Fillies.

* Floater ($3.80) kept his perfect record intact by scoring a 1 1/2-length victory in the $60,000 Juvenile.

* Scioto Bootski ($66.20), a 5-year-old mare facing males, outdueled 2-5 favorite Ben's Reflection by a head in the six-furlong Sprint.

* Oh So Easy ($22.80) rallied in the final strides to defeat two-time defending champion and 3-5 favorite Ashwood C C by a head in the $60,000 Distaff.

No one had all five winners in the pick five offered on the Best of Ohio races, so 4 of 5 was good for $1,091.
