Beulah : Devil Time romps in Babst


GROVE CITY, Ohio - Devil Time ($6.20) took command entering the stretch and was ridden out to a 7 1/2-length victory over 12 Ohio-bred rivals in Saturday's $40,000 Edward Babst Memorial at Beulah Park.

Vivid News, who had trouble at the start, rallied to finish second, 1 1/2 lengths clear of Fax a Freddy in third.

Devil Time clocked the six furlongs in 1:11.89 over the sloppy track under jockey Hector Rosario Jr. Devil Time, a 6-year-old gelding trained by David Carroll for owner Brad Anderson, won for the eighth time in his career and now has earnings of $239,809.

The exacta was worth $40.20 and the trifecta paid $231.60.
