Beulah: 60-day meet begins

Beulah Park on Saturday begins its 60-day fall meeting, which runs through Dec. 21.

The meet is highlighted by next Saturday's Best of Ohio Day, which rotates on a yearly basis between the state's three Thoroughbred tracks and features five stakes for Ohio-breds. The stakes range in value from $50,000 to $75,000.

In August, Beulah Park management threatened to delay the opening of the meet until the end of October while involved in a dispute with the Ohio Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association over account wagering revenue on races run in Ohio. That dispute has since been resolved.

Beulah will race five days per week, Tuesdays through Saturdays, with Sundays and Mondays dark. Wednesdays through Saturdays the track will alternate races with Thistledown in a 7 & 7 format, and on Tuesdays Beulah will race alone. Post time is 1:15 p.m. through Oct. 29, and then will switch to 12:55 p.m. on Tuesdays and to 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday.
