Bestdressed pulls away in On Trust Handicap

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Bestdressed took advantage of a fast pace to score a last-to-first upset Saturday at Hollywood Park in the $79,250 On Trust Handicap for California-bred sprinters at 7 1/2 furlongs on the main track.

Joel Rosario rode Bestdressed ($12.60) for trainer John Sadler, who attributed the gelding's recent murky form to bad racing luck. Bestdressed lagged 10 lengths off a 44.86-second opening half, rallied four wide into the lane, and won going away.

The win was his first in six starts for Great Friends Racing Stable, who claimed him six starts back for $50,000. It was his sixth win from 38 starts. The 5-year-old gelding by Lit de Justice raced 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:27.65. He earned a 96 Beyer Speed Figure.

Bestdressed won by 2 1/2 lengths over Enriched; 3-2 favorite Star Nicholas finished three-quarters of a length back in third. After the top three, the finish order was Big Bad Leroybrown, Nikki'sgoldensteed, My Summer Slew, and Dance With Gable.

The win was the third on the Saturday card for Sadler and Rosario, who in race 3 teamed for an impressive debut victory by 2-year-old colt Twirling Candy ($7.20). The son of Candy Ride ran seven furlongs in 1:22.12 and earned an 86 Beyer.
