Well, in the 40 years of playing the triple crown, this was the third time I didn't have any of the first three finisher's. Oh well there is always next year. Next up Saratoga. Then on to Breeders Cup to end the year....Foot note, my Belmont picks was 4th place Incognito & 5th place Revolutionary.....

Incognito with a bang up race!!

Frac Daddy thought it was a 6 furlong sprint. Good thing they put him in the race. What a joke. At least the people of Freedom Child realize they need to teach the horse how to rate.

FD was definitely a joke in there with those tactics, but FC was actually rating nicely until Oxbow pressured him from the outside.

Congrats to the winner. Todd...... You got another 4 horses beat in a grade one. You had over 30% of the field so winning wasn't a great stretch of the imagination. Get the other 4 to win a graded stakes before the year is out and prove your not a numbers guy but you believe the are graded stakes horses.

Well, actually, Revolutionary is already a graded stakes winner as is Overanalyze.

John, I am confused by your statement. Unlimited Budget has already won three graded stakes and is G1 placed in the KY Oaks with a troubled trip. The only Pletcher entry I didn't understand was Midnight Taboo, and in my mind, I chalked that up to Repole wanting to start him, not Pletcher. As Elizabeth pointed out, Revolutionary and Overanalyze already won graded stakes races in major Derby preps. Overanalyze has won a G1, and 2 G2s. Revolutionary hit the board in the Derby. The problem is, Pletcher has too many good horses. A major case could be made for all of them (except the aforementioned Midnight Taboo). Reminds me of the time Steve Asmussen was asked what he wants to do when he grows up and he stated "Be Todd Pletcher". Pletcher's whole operation is geared towards winning 2 year old races and focusing on the 3 year old classic races. It is D. Wayne off the Plane version 2.0 - Look at the order of finish. McPeek, Albertrani, Dutrow, Stewart, Rodriguez all finished in the bottom half of the field. All great trainers, but their more "focused" attention of bringing one horse to the race did not help their chances at winning the test of champions. Like it or not, unless Todd Pletcher dies an untimely death, he will win A LOT more classic races. In fact, I would be willing to bet that he will be the all time leading winner of triple crown races before he is done. Any handicapper should love the Pletcher blunderbuss approach, they always take money, and it drives up the prices on other horses. Pick your spots and take a stand against his entries. But, all of his horses today were legit (except Midnight Taboo).

Dude are you drunk ? The others but one are already Graded winners ,, some just like to hate ,, if you want to be one of those at least get your facts straight first ,,, Time to make note of John Byrne future posts & consider the source of them.

Congratulations to Kenny Peck, the only DRF handicapper to pick Palace Malice on top Kudos to Byron King and Mike Watchmaker for picking exacta and trifecta boxes in the big race - only goes to show, the harder you work, the luckier you get! Well played, K, B & M :)
