Belmont pick six pays $308K

ELMONT, N.Y. - Buoyed by longshot Hooligan's Delight, Wednesday's pick-six at Belmont Park returned a healthy $308,963 to 11 bettors who were savvy enough to come up with the winning combination. None of the winning tickets was sold ontrack.

There were 995 consolation tickets (5 of 6), each returning $763.

There were two winning favorites and two second choices in the winning sequence of 7-1-9-7-3-4 that included favorite Clear Attempt ($4.50), Must Be Love ($9.60), second choice Prince of Danger ($9.20), favorite Ms Stilleto ($5.40), Hooligan's Delight ($52.50) and second choice Copious Notes ($9.90).

Wednesday's card began with a $1,130,718 carryover after going unhit last Saturday, Belmont Stakes Day. An additional $4,103,130 was wagered into the pool on Wednesday, a non-Breeders' Cup Day record for the New York Racing Association. After the takeout, the available money in the pool was $4,116,914.

This was the third time in the last four years that there was a huge carryover heading into the card following the Belmont Stakes.
