Belmont Park: Three hit pick six for $101,000

ELMONT, N.Y. - There were three winning tickets purchased on Friday’s pick six at Belmont Park, each returning a healthy $101,581.

There had been a two-day carryover of $114,149 and an additional $343,452 was bet into the pool on Friday.

The winning sequence of 3-9-2-1-7-5 consisted of Hillsboro Bay ($9.30), Natalie Victoria ($3.90), Boots Ahead ($6), Grey Foose ($11.40), Shankopotamus ($17.20) and Associate ($11.40).

There were 148 consolation tickets (5 of 6), each returning $429.

Boots Ahead won the $60,000 Third Martini Stakes, the only race that remained on the turf. Boots Ahead, under Eddie Castro persevered to a 1 3/4-length victory over the pace-setting Followmyfootsteps. He ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:54.40 over a yielding turf course. That time is 15.02 seconds off the course record. Boots Ahead is owned by Agnes Peace and trained by George Weaver.

Due to the rain, all of Saturday’s scheduled turf races have been moved to the main track.

Earlier on Friday’s card, Roman Treasure, under Ramon Dominguez, splashed her way to an eight-length victory over Maple Forest in the $57,000 Positive Gal Stakes, which scratched down to a field of four. Roman Treasure, owned by Black Swan Stable and trained by Mike Hushion, covered six furlongs in 1:11.16 in the slop and returned $3.90 as the favorite.
