ELMONT, N.Y. - Friday’s pick six at Belmont Park returned $12,462. There were 57 winning tickets sold.

The correct sequence of 1-10-10-6-6-4 included Dance Card ($2.40), Mary P. Jones ($25.20), Special Skills ($12.80), Madame Giry ($8.10), Fiddlers Afleet ($9.70), and Departures ($4.30). Dance Card and Departures were favored while Madame Giry and Fiddlers Afleet were the second choice in their respective races.

Friday’s card began with a two-day carryover of $194,905 and there was an additional $903,086 wagered into the pool.

The consolation payout (5 of 6) was $101.

Despite running a distance that was shorter than his best, Fiddlers Afleet was a dominant 7 1/4-length winner of the $85,000 Chasin’ Wimmin’ Stakes for New York-bred sprinters.

Fiddlers Afleet sat fourth under David Cohen while Mine Over Matter and Driven by Success dueled each other through rapid fractions of 21.84 seconds for the quarter and 44.86 for the half-mile.

Fiddlers Afleet, making his first start for trainer David Jacobson, rallied three wide and inside of Be Bullish and favored Uncle T Seven, before pulling away from those two inside the final furlong.

Fiddlers Afleet, a 6-year-old son of Northern Afleet owned by Gary Barber, covered six furlongs in 1:09.72.

I WISH it had been the SIX. !! Is it the heat or just a sure thing to scratch the horse for a consolation payout ? Seems like an awful lot of late scratches at the gate.

I believe Fiddlers Afleet was the two horse in the eighth race not the six as the article states Proofreader
