Belmont Park: Pick six hit for $523,036

Email

ELMONT, N.Y. – There was one winning ticket sold for Saturday’s pick six at Belmont Park, returning $523,036. The winning ticket was purchased through the Elite Turf Club, an advance-deposit-wagering platform through the Las Vegas hub, according to New York Racing Association officials.

There was a two-day carryover of $173,468 entering Saturday’s card, and an additional $629,175 was wagered into the pool Saturday.

After 21-1 shot Stanwyck upset the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Handicap, it appeared as though there would be a half-million-dollar carryover into Sunday’s closing-day program at Belmont, when the entire pool must be distributed. Going into Saturday’s last leg, only Precious Metal, a 10-1 shot, was covered in the 12-horse field.

Under Rajiv Maragh, Precious Metal rallied three wide in the stretch and held off 2-1 favorite Madam I’m Adam to get the win, returning $23.30.

The winning pick-six sequence of 4-5-2-5-4-5 included Wicked Strong ($10.20), Joy Seeker ($7.60), Candyman E ($6.50), Clearly Now ($9.80), Stanwyck ($44.80), and Precious Metal ($23.30).

Despite there being no mammoth carryover, the entire pick-six pool still must be distributed Sunday at Belmont.

On tvg they said that the DRF did not list the blinkers on.Anyone who did not look at the NYRA site or listen never knew this.

Fools, Horse racing is as fixed as ever. This was a fix as ever there has been as this horse that won the last leg was the only combination that could have won this gimmick. So sad that we as racing lovers are so duped into thinking that racing is a honest risk. This is another reason why someday there will be only 10 or fewer tracks running on a Saturday afternoon. And just for the record I was duped as well.

Curious on your thinking, as the winning combination was clearly posted on monitors immediately following the preceding race

you're right and I'm still kicking myself in the b*** for not putting least a few bucks to win on it.
