ELMONT, N.Y. – Upset victories by Vinny Goodtimes and As Well – combined with a late scratch of a race favorite – conspired to create a $165,205 pick-six carryover for Thursday’s card at Belmont Park. The wager was not hit Sunday, so Wednesday’s card began with a $44,044 carryover. Following a victory by second choice My Jimmy Chew Girl ($8.10) in the opening leg, Vinny Goodtimes ($22.80) stormed by 9-5 favorite Red Vine to upset the fifth race. After wins by second choice Mononoke ($9.40) and the favored Ave’s Halo ($4.80) in the next two legs, things got complicated in the eighth race, the $100,000 Catinca Stakes. Lighthouse Bay, the even-money favorite, was scratched at the gate, and those who used her in the pick six were put onto the post-time favorite, Maracuya, who was run down by Baby J ($5.70). As Well cemented the carryover when she flew down the center of the Belmont turf course to win the nightcap at $14.20. Thursday’s pick six begins with race 4 (2:26 p.m. Eastern) and includes three dirt races and three turf races.
