Before heading back to Kentucky, trainer Dale Romans watched his multiple Grade 1 winner Dullahan work five furlongs in 1:00.44 over the Belmont main track Sunday morning. Dullahan is being pointed to Saturday’s Grade 1, $400,000 Jamaica for 3-year-olds on the turf.
Romans had hoped to work on the grass, but turf works were postponed from Sunday to Monday due to the course condition.
Romans was pleased with the way Dullahan was “reaching out” in his work. Others pointing to the Jamaica include Amira’s Prince, Cogito, King Kreesa, Summer Front, and Unbridled Command.
Christophe Clement, trainer of Summer Front, said there is a possibility his horse could ship to Southern California for Saturday’s $150,000 Arroyo Seco Mile if he feared that Belmont’s turf would be too soft.
On Monday, over a yielding Belmont turf, the New York-bred Unbridled Command worked five furlongs in 1:02.58 around orange traffic cones that kept the works close to the outside fence.

Amira's Prince has good early speed too so should get a nice trip, either lead or stalk.

Amira's Prince carried 135 pounds in his last race and went a mile and a half, only lost by 1/2 a length. Should be carrying much less weight this time. Trained by Bill Mott.
He's my early pick.

MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
