ELMONT, N.Y. – Jockey David Cohen won his 1,000th career race Thursday when he guided Bobs Pinup Girl to a head victory over longshot Chicks in Slacks in the ninth race at Belmont Park.

Cohen, 26, came into the day needing two wins to reach the milestone. He won the opener aboard Emma’s Posse ($4.20), but lost with his next five mounts before getting Bobs Pinup Girl ($18.80) home in the last.

Cohen began riding in 2004 in Southern California and moved his tack to New York in 2010, where he finished as the second-leading rider on the New York Racing Association circuit.

This year, Cohen has 133 winners on the NYRA circuit, currently ranking him fourth.

Cohen’s victory in the last race capped a pick-six sequence that returned $24,173 to 12 winning tickets. There was a carryover of $102,902 entering Thursday’s card and an additional $337,286 was wagered into the pool.

The sequence began with a dead heat between Style Squad (12.60) and Ostensibly ($5.40) in the fourth race and included Synthesizer ($6.80), Lady on the Run ($5.90), Dax ($10.20), Rigby ($5), and Bobs Pinup Girl ($18.80).

The consolation payout (5 of 6) was $185.
