Awesome Feather will most likely make her next start in the Grade 1 Gazelle at Aqueduct on Nov. 26.

Though trainer Chad Brown hasn’t completely ruled out the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic for his undefeated champion Awesome Feather, he is more likely to wait for the Grade 1 Gazelle at Aqueduct on Nov. 26 to run the 3-year-old filly.

Awesome Feather returned from a lengthy layoff to win a seven-furlong overnight stakes race here Oct. 5 by two lengths. Brown said trying to run in the Ladies’ Classic at 1 1/8 miles off one race might be “a tall task.”

“We’re all leaning toward training up to the Gazelle at this point,” said Brown, who trains Awesome Feather for Frank Stronach. “I’m aware of the defections from the Ladies’ Classic, and we’re training her accordingly, but more than likely we’re going to sit tight and train her up to the Gazelle.”

On Wednesday, Awesome Feather worked four furlongs in 49.82 seconds over the Belmont main track.

Awesome Feather capped off a perfect 2-year-old season by winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs last November. She was purchased at auction by Stronach and turned over to Brown who had to rehabilitate her from a bowed tendon.
