Bella's Sister on a roll

Bella's Sister, undefeated in three starts including the Hallowed Dreams Stakes against open company in her last start, puts her perfect record on the line in the $50,000 Salute Stakes on Friday night at Evangeline Downs. She will square off against eight opponents in the seven-furlong race for 3-year-old Louisiana-bred fillies

Trained by Benard Chatters, Bella's Sister made a splashy debut against fellow maidens at Delta Downs in December, when she drew clear by eight lengths. She returned to action in mid-February and made short work of entry-level allowance rivals at Delta.

It was then another two months before her most recent start in the 5 1/2-furlong Hallowed Dreams. With regular rider Nathaniel Puello aboard, Bella's Sister stalked the early pace before challenging through the turn and pulling away with a strong late kick, an indication that she will not mind the added distance of Friday's race.

The main threat to Bella's Sister appears to be Daphne Angela. Never worse than second in her six-race career, Daphne Angela comes off a solid runner-up finish in the $100,000 Louisiana Oaks at Louisiana Downs on May 22. She earned an 89 Beyer Figure, the highest career number of anyone in the Salute field.
