Becrux heads Hong Kong list

Becrux and Rebel Rebel, the first two finishers in the Woodbine Mile, head the list of American horses selected for the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin on Dec. 10. Nearctic Stakes winner Fast Parade has been invited to line up for the Hong Kong Sprint on the same day.

Becrux, a 4-year-old Italian-bred gelding trained by Neil Drysdale, prevailed by a neck in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile on Sept. 17 over the Rick Dutrow-trained Rebel Rebel, an Irish-bred colt who had won the Grade 3 Poker Stakes earlier this year. If connections accept their Hong Kong Jockey Club invitation to the $2 million Mile, they could run into the Japanese-based Dance in the Mood, who won the CashCall Mile at Hollywood; Sunday's International Mile Trial winner, Armada; Italian Group 1 winner Ramonti; and local hero Bullish Luck.

Fast Parade, a gelded 3-year-old son of Delineator trained by Peter Miller, won for the fourth time in his last five starts when he landed the six-furlong Nearctic on the Woodbine turf on Oct. 22. His rivals in the $2 million, six-furlong Sprint could include Australian speedball Takeover Target, Japan's Grade 2 Centaur Stakes winner She Is Tosho, Irish sprinter Benbaun, defending champ Natural Blitz, and local legend Silent Witness.
