Multiple stakes winner Beau Choix has been retired and will enter stud in 2014 at Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington, Ky. The 6-year-old son of Elusive Quality, who raced as a homebred for Belle Meadows Farm and Lael Stable, captured seven of 30 career starts, earning $425,694. Trained by Barclay Tagg, Beau Choix won two editions of the Rob N Gin Stakes at Belmont, along with the Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga and the James W. Murphy Stakes at Pimlico. He placed in six additional stakes events, including a third-place effort in the Grade 1 Jamaica Handicap. Beau Choix, who is out of the Grade 2-winning Belong to Me mare Belle Cherie, is a half-brother to stakes winner Last Best Place and stakes-placed Belle Cherie Mary. Belle Cherie, who was produced by the stakes-winning Dr. Carter mare Belle Nuit, is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and $1.6-million earner Octave, as well as to stakes winners Unbridled Behavior and Be Mine Tonight. Belle Nuit is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Ms. Eloise. Beau Choix is available for inspection at Mill Ridge.
