BC Mile hopefuls point to QEII

The early entries for Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot included no fewer than five Breeders' Cup Mile hopefuls.

The entries, which were released Monday, were headed by a trio of Godolphin runners: Librettist, who won France's two Group 1 weight-for-age miles, the Prix Jacques le Marois and the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp; Proclamation, who won last year's Sussex Stakes and finished a close second in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot; and Group 2 Celebration Mile winner Caradak. Librettist and Proclamation are Godolphin's Breeders' Cup Mile candidates.

Other entrants who will point for the BC Mile include George Washington, who recently was third in the Celebration; Araafa, who won the St. James's Palace; and Court Masterpiece, who won the Sussex.

William Hill made George Washington its 7-4 QEII favorite, with Librettist at 3-1, Proclamation 11-2, Araafa 6-1, Court Masterpiece 6-1, Nannina 12-1, and Caradak 25-1.
