ALBANY, Calif. - Russell Baze moved into a tie with Bill Shoemaker for second on the all-time victory list with 8,833 wins, riding El Prado Boy ($3.80) to victory in the fifth race at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.

Baze, who recorded three victories Friday, won with his first three mounts Saturday to tie Shoemaker, whose first victory game at Golden Gate Fields aboard Shafter V on April 19, 1949.

El Prado Boy won the 1 1/16-mile turf race by two lengths over Tygemini after giving Baze an eventful trip. The 4-year-old gelding, trained by Steve Miyadi, was rank early and lugged in nearing the rail down the stretch.

Earlier Saturday, Baze guided Face Down Dave ($4.80) to a wire-to-wire victory in the second race and came from last to win with favored Tularosa Kid ($6.40) in the third race.
