Bay Meadows: My Creed rallies to victory

My Creed ($6.40) settled in last early before uncorking a strong stretch run to capture the $53,975 Presidents' Day Handicap at Bay Meadows.

Jockey Modesto Linares did not hurry the 6-year-old gelding as Roscoe Pito set fast early fractions with Dr. Einstein sitting just off him. My Creed was last as Roscoe Pito ran a 22.66 opening quarter and 45.59 half in the 1 1/16-mile race.

As Dr. Einstein dropped out of contention, his stablemate Passive Income made a strong move, disposing of Roscoe Pito before My Creed came flying in high gear along the outside and continued strongly to the wire, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:41.70.

"He always seem to drop back here," winning trainer Bob Hess said. "He's won wire to wire in the past, but you just let him run his own race."

My Creed, who now has 6 victories in 29 starts, won for the first time since rallying from last in a $50,000 optional claimer at Bay Meadows on Sept. 4, 2005.
