Bay Meadows: Entrymates one-two

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Entrymates Heavenly Humor and Secret Corsage ($4.40) dominated the $59,113 San Jose Stakes at Bay Meadows, with Heavenly Humor taking command late to win by three-quarters of a length.

The two ran one-two from the backstretch to the wire in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies. Heavenly Humor was clocked in 1:43.07 as she and her entrymate pulled away down the lane. Secret Corsage was six lengths in front of third-place finisher Eight Karat.

Secret Corsage was sent to the lead immediately. Mazella was a head in front of Heavenly Humor around the clubhouse turn before the entrymates took over down the backstretch.

"I've been waiting to stretch Heavenly Humor out, and she was sitting perfectly," said winning trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. "Sometimes it works out."

Heavenly Humor, bred by the late John Franks, is owned by Franks Farm, Peter Abruzzo, and Hollendorfer. She earned $30,650 for her third victory in six starts as she boosted her career earnings to $94,415.
