Email

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A Sky Mesa filly proved fastest in the Barretts May sale’s under-tack preview Friday as the day’s only worker to shade 10 seconds in an eighth-mile breeze.

The daughter of stakes winner Bare Dancer, by Cherokee Run, went in 9.8 seconds. She’s out of a full sister to stakes-winner Indian War Dance and is herself a half-sister to Korean winner Indian Cherokee. She will sell as Hip No. 122 in the Wavertree agency’s consignment.

Two horses shared the fastest time for a quarter-mile work at the breeze show, held at Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif., where the auction will take place Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hinds Pavilion. Topping the quarter-mile worktab were Hip No. 77 and Hip No. 95. Hip No. 77 is a Dance Master filly out of the unraced Orientate mare Unostella. Currently named Likealovesong, the registered Oklahoma-bred is in the Monarch Thoroughbreds consignment. Hip No. 95 is a Horse Greeley colt out of the unraced Thunder Gulch mare Boom Boom Bertie, a full sister to graded winner Thunder Bertie. He’s a half-brother to the winner Devilish Berti.
