Barretts Sale Monday Night: Two colts share fastest breeze time at under-tack show

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A pair of colts by Songandaprayer and Macho Uno breezed in under 10 seconds Friday at the Barretts March select 2-year-old sale’s under-tack show in California.

The sale takes place Monday evening at Fairplex Park’s Hinds Pavilion in Pomona.

Hip No. 105, a Songandaprayer son of the Johannesburg mare Justaspell, and Hip No. 126, a Macho Uno colt out of the Storm Cat winner My Goodness, each covered an eighth-mile in 9.8 seconds. The Songandaprayer colt is a half-brother to the winner Nali; Callaway Thoroughbreds consigns him. The Macho Uno colt, his dam’s first foal, has champion Caressing for a second dam; he is in Eddie Woods’s consignment.

Eleven horses had the day’s second-fastest eighth-mile work in 10 seconds. They were Hip No. 27, a Wildcat Heir-Tiz What It Waz colt; Hip No. 34, a Midnight Lute-Wasted Wisdom filly; Hip No. 44, a Wildcat Heir-Aleyna’s Love colt; Hip No. 46, an Ecclesiastic-Aly’s Bluff filly; Hip No. 56, a Songandaprayer-Cheryl’s Sister colt; Hip No. 77, a Street Boss-Exciting Avenue filly; HIp No. 89, a Broken Vow-Gold Muff colt; Hip No. 131, a Bedford Falls-Onemorefortheroad filly; Hip No. 138, a Wildcat Heir-Pretty Indian colt; Hip No. 140, a Songandaprayer-Queen Majesty colt; and Hip No. 144, a Pomeroy-Recapture colt.

An Atticus colt covered a quarter-mile in the day’s fastest time of 21.4 seconds. That was Hip No. 41, a half-brother to Grade 2 winner California Nectar. The son of stakes-placed Absolute Nectar, by Carson City, is in the Sam Hendricks agency’s consignment.

The second-fastest quarter-mile time was the 21.6 seconds posted by Hip No. 28, an Empire Maker-Tracing Stars colt offered by agent Bobby Dodd.
